Acceptance of Orders
All orders received are subject to acceptance by Cranachan & Crowdie and we reserve the right to reject any order without giving reasons. No contract to supply goods or services to you will come into existence unless we dispatch goods or provide services to the purchaser or otherwise communicate to the purchaser our acceptance of an order.
Gifts containing alcoholic drinks cannot be sold to persons under 18 years of age and can only be shipped within the EU.
Orders can be cancelled up to day of despatch, when a full refund will be credited. For on line purchases the customer has the right to cancel an order up to 14 days after receipt of goods. Where this right is exercised you will be refunded the full amount minus any perishable goods which cannot be resold and any items which have been consumed or damaged as well as carriage charges incurred. All goods must be returned in good condition. We aim to provide the refund within 14 days on receipt of returned goods, less any charges as stated above, once the non-perishable products have been returned. Notification of cancellation must be in writing – letter or email. Please see details below. Cost of return to be paid by the customer.

A full list of contents is given for each gift. Photographic props such as glasses, plates, candles, Christmas stocking, flowers and fruit are not included, unless otherwise stated in the list of contents. Please see substitutions paragraph below.

Whilst every effort will be made to meet customer demands, cancellations or variations may be necessary as a result of an Act of God, War, Strike, Lockout, Labour Dispute, Fire, Flood, Drought or other causes beyond the control of Cranachan & Crowdie. If attempted delivery is not made within an acceptable time, then the customer may cancel the order. We suggest that this is over seven days for UK mainland.
These terms and conditions and all acts of Cranachan & Crowdie, its Directors and employees shall be in the accordance of the laws of Scotland. Nothing in these terms and conditions affects your statutory rights.
We accept payment online by PayPal.
Cranachan & Crowdie does not disclose buyers or recipients information to third parties, without their prior permission.
Reservation of Title
All goods remain the property of Cranachan & Crowdie until they have been paid for in full.
VAT and Duty
These apply at the current rate at the time of invoicing. Some gifts contain zero rated food items. On these items a zero percentage VAT rate has been calculated.
We use ParcelForce for delivery within the UK and EU and FedEx for delivery outside the UK and EU.
Accurate addresses and signature for receipt of gift
Please ensure all addresses are accurate to include postal town and postcode, together with recipient’s telephone number and if possible an email and mobile number. Inaccurate addresses will inevitably cause delay and incur an additional delivery charge. We are unable to deliver to BFPO and P O Box numbers. Our liability is limited to delivery to the building, not individual recipients.
Two Day Delivery
We will always despatch to you for delivery within 2 days unless you request a 24 hour delivery. This is clearly subject to stock availability. Orders received on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be posted out during working hours on Monday. We do not send out on a Friday if perishable foods are included. Northern Ireland, The Scottish Highlands and all offshore islands are a two day service. All surcharges are listed below.
We guarantee Christmas delivery to UK mainland for all orders received up to and including 10th December, providing someone is available to receive the gifts. Any orders received after this date will be subject to availability, which we will confirm.
Last dates for overseas orders are:
- 30th November for Ireland and Europe
- 15th November for the rest of the world
- Christmas deliveries will be despatched from 1st to 22nd December.
- We cannot despatch Christmas fresh food such as cheeses before 1st December.
- Smoked salmon will be despatched the third week in December.
Recipients who are unable receive their parcel due to not being in will be left a card to telephone the courier to agree a suitable day for delivery/collection. However, during the week before Christmas, due to the volume of parcels being delivered, the courier requests permission to leave the goods in a safe place. We would also say that if the recipient knows they will not be in we are always happy to leave a parcel in a safe place with the customer’s prior instruction. Responsibility for the item under such circumstance falls directly on the recipient.
Deliveries are made between 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).
We regret that we are unable to guarantee a day or time of delivery due to scheduling that is outside our control.

48 hour mainland deliveries throughout the UK will all be charged at £10.00 as a flat rate for any parcel up to a weight of 30kg when packed. 24 hour mainland deliveries throughout the UK will all be charged at £13.00 as a flat rate for any parcel up to a weight of 30kg when packed.
All our food and drink gifts are packed in strong containers: corrugated cartons in red, green or brown, wood boxes, wicker baskets, hessian bags or cool bags. Depending on the contents of your gift, we pack glass items in bubble wrap and use either paper stuffing or polystyrene to protect your gift in transit. The whole gift and container is then enclosed in a strong cardboard outer.
Insured and tracked
All our gifts are dispatched via courier and are insured and tracked.
Non Delivery arrangements:
Recipient not in and no-one to sign for gift
The driver will leave a card at the address with contact information for redelivery or collection. Any parcel which has been carded and not delivered or collected within five working days from date of dispatch is automatically returned to Cranachan & Crowdie. We cannot be held responsible for any perishable foods if the recipient does not contact the courier immediately on receipt of the calling card.
Claims for loss or damage
Delivery services have significantly improved in recent years, so in the unlikely event of damage or loss in transit, we will replace the damaged contents or gift immediately free of charge providing the following:
1.The goods are signed for upon receipt as damaged or have been refused because of obvious damage.
2.The courier and ourselves are informed at once and it is confirmed by the recipient to us in writing within a reasonable time of delivery quoting reference number on the parcel. Our couriers recommend that any damage which cannot be seen from the outside must be notified to Parcelforce & Cranachan & Crowdie in writing within 7 days.
3. Damaged goods must be retained for inspection and it may be required that they be returned to us at our expense before replacement or refund.
4. All claims must be submitted within a reasonable time. Our couriers recommend a maximum of fourteen days.
5. Returned goods must clearly show the full name, address and telephone number of the sender.
6. We cannot accept responsibility for the wrong order or non-delivery, resulting from incorrect information or addresses being provided.
